Film & Video
Client: Oxford Cambridge Boat Race
The Brief
The Boat Race Company Ltd approached Atomic Tangerine to create a marketing tool that was designed to attract a potential corporate sponsorship deal for the 2008 – 2012 Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race. The film had to reflect not only the past heritage of what is arguably one of the greatest races in history, as well as a modern and forward thinking company that has independent control over the race and its activities, whilst also demonstrating an attractive proposition for future sponsorship deals.
The Solution
Atomic Tangerine working closely with the Boat Race Company Ltd engaged a scriptwriter to enhance the opening narrative which was read by Peter Drury. His voiceover was key to the video as it looked at the past history of the race, the great finishes and the not so great disasters, such as sinking’s, clashes with bridges and each other. We then engaged 4 x Olympic Gold Medal winner Matthew Pinsent to do a piece to camera explaining the phenomenon that is the boat race, and its meaning to those select few who manage to ever make the team. The video was re-produced in DVD format along with a sponsorship brochure that appears on the second half of the film explaining the corporate advantages that sponsorship may bring.
